When is the best time to climb Kilimanjaro?
The best months for climbing are January to March and June to October. These dry seasons offer clearer skies, less rain, and the best summit success rates. However, we operate climbs year-round — the “shoulder” months can offer quieter trails and lower prices.
Local operators like Kilimanjaro Raven offer fair wages to porters and guides (not middleman commissions), deeper knowledge of the mountain and terrain, better prices without agency markups, and direct communication with the person leading your trek. Your money stays in the Tanzanian community.
Solo travelers are welcome! We offer private treks tailored to your pace and preferences, or you can join one of our scheduled group departures to share the adventure (and costs) with fellow climbers from around the world.
You don’t need to be an elite athlete, but a reasonable level of fitness is important. We recommend regular cardio exercise (hiking, running, cycling) for 2-3 months before your trip. Our guides manage the pace carefully to maximize acclimatization and summit success.
Absolutely. Every trek includes emergency oxygen, a comprehensive first-aid kit, and pulse oximeters to monitor your acclimatization. Our guides are certified Wilderness First Responders trained in altitude sickness detection and evacuation procedures.
