The Scenic and Successful Path to the Roof of Africa

7 Days Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route

Lemosho Route is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and successful ways to reach the summit of Africa’s highest mountain.

Mount Kilimanjaro trekking via the Lemosho Route is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and successful ways to reach the summit of Africa’s highest mountain. Beginning on the remote western side of Kilimanjaro, the route offers a longer and more gradual ascent profile that allows trekkers excellent time for acclimatization while enjoying some of the mountain’s most breathtaking and varied scenery. Its combination of stunning landscapes, lower crowds during the early stages, and high summit success rates makes the Lemosho Route one of Kilimanjaro’s premier trekking experiences.

The route traverses a remarkable range of ecological zones, from lush rainforest and giant heather moorlands to alpine desert and glacier-covered summit terrain. Trekkers experience dramatic highlights such as the Shira Plateau, Lava Tower, Barranco Wall, and the scenic Southern Circuit with panoramic views from multiple sides of the mountain. The “climb high, sleep low” approach greatly improves acclimatization and gives climbers a more comfortable adjustment to the altitude compared to shorter routes.

The adventure reaches its unforgettable climax during the midnight ascent from Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), where trekkers arrive at the summit in time to witness a spectacular sunrise above the clouds. With experienced mountain guides, professional porters, nourishing meals, quality camping equipment, and full logistical support from Kilimanjaro Raven Company, the 7-day Lemosho Route offers an extraordinary combination of adventure, scenery, comfort, and achievement on Africa’s legendary mountain.
