Embark on a 7-day Kilimanjaro trek via the Rongai Route with Kilimanjaro Raven Company. Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
After an early breakfast at the hotel, you will drive to the Rongai Gate (1,950m), located near the Kenyan border. The journey offers scenic views of the Tanzanian countryside. Once you arrive at the gate, you will complete the registration process and begin your trek. The trail winds through fields and pine forests before ascending gradually to Simba Camp (2,650m). Along the way, you may spot wildlife such as colobus monkeys. By mid-afternoon, you will arrive at Simba Camp, where you will rest and acclimatize. Dinner will be served at the camp.

Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
After breakfast at Simba Camp, you will continue your ascent through the moorland zone. The trail offers stunning views of Kibo and the Eastern ice fields on the crater rim. You will reach Second Cave (3,450m) by early afternoon, where you will have lunch and take time to acclimatize. The afternoon is free to rest or explore the surrounding area. Dinner will be served at the camp, and you will have the evening to relax.

After breakfast, you will leave Second Cave and trek towards Kikelewa Camp. The trail gradually ascends, passing through the moorland zone with its unique vegetation and stunning views. You will have a packed lunch along the way. By early afternoon, you will arrive at Kikelewa Camp (3,600m), located in a sheltered valley with giant senecio plants. After settling in, you can explore the area or rest. Dinner will be served at the camp.

After breakfast, you will leave Kikelewa Camp and trek towards Mawenzi Tarn Camp. The trail becomes steeper and more rugged as you approach the jagged peaks of Mawenzi. By early afternoon, you will arrive at Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m), situated in a picturesque location beside a mountain lake. After lunch, you will have the afternoon to rest and acclimatize. The camp offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Dinner will be served at the camp.

After breakfast, you will leave Mawenzi Tarn Camp and trek towards Kibo Hut. The trail crosses the lunar landscape of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo, offering a stark contrast to the lush rainforest you trekked through earlier. You will reach Kibo Hut (4,700m) by early afternoon. After a hot lunch, you will have the afternoon to rest and prepare for the summit attempt. An early dinner will be served, and you will go to bed early in anticipation of the midnight ascent.
Elevation: 4,700m to 5,895m (Uhuru Peak), then down to 3,720m (Horombo Hut)
Distance Covered: 6 km ascent to Uhuru Peak, 16 km descent to Horombo Hut
Hiking Time: 10-14 hours
Your summit day begins around midnight with a wake-up call and a light meal. The final ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) starts at 1:00 AM. The trail is steep and challenging, passing through the arctic zone. You will climb to Gilman's Point (5,685m) on the crater rim, then continue along the rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Reaching the summit at sunrise is a breathtaking experience, offering stunning views and a sense of accomplishment.
After celebrating at the summit and taking photos, you will begin your descent back to Kibo Hut for a short rest and breakfast. You will then continue your descent to Horombo Hut (3,720m), where you will have dinner and spend the night, reflecting on your achievement.

Distance Covered: 20 km
Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
On the final day of your trek, you will have breakfast at Horombo Hut before descending to Marangu Gate. The trail will take you back through the heath and moorland zones and into the rainforest. You will have a packed lunch along the way. Upon reaching Marangu Gate, you will sign out and receive your summit certificates. A vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi. After a well-deserved rest and freshening up, you will enjoy a farewell dinner with your trekking team, celebrating your successful Kilimanjaro adventure.
