On the first day of your trek, you will start early with a departure from Arusha around 8:00 AM. The scenic drive to Arusha National Park takes about 1-2 hours. Upon arrival at Momella Gate (1,500m), you will complete the necessary park formalities and meet the trekking crew. The trek begins through lush rainforest, where you might encounter wildlife such as buffaloes, giraffes, and a variety of bird species. The trail gradually ascends, and you will stop for a packed lunch along the way. By late afternoon, you will reach Miriakamba Hut (2,500m), where you can rest, acclimatize, and enjoy the stunning views. Dinner will be served at the hut, allowing you to relax and prepare for the next day.

Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
After an early breakfast at Miriakamba Hut, you will set off for Saddle Hut around 8:00 AM. The route for this day takes you through the forest zone and into the heath and moorland zone, offering beautiful views of the Meru Crater and Little Meru. Although the hike is shorter in distance, it is steeper and more challenging. You will arrive at Saddle Hut (3,570m) in time for lunch. In the afternoon, there is an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m), which provides panoramic views and helps your body adjust to the altitude. Returning to Saddle Hut, you will have dinner and an early rest to prepare for the summit attempt.
Elevation: 3,570m to 4,566m (ascent), then down to 1,500m
Distance Covered: 5 km (ascent), 14 km (descent)
Hiking Time: 10-12 hours
The final day starts around midnight with a wake-up call for tea and snacks. The summit ascent begins at 1:00 AM, with headlamps guiding your way up the steep and challenging trail. The route includes some scrambling sections and requires careful navigation. After several hours of strenuous climbing, you will reach Socialist Peak (4,566m) by sunrise. The reward for your effort is a breathtaking sunrise and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. After a brief celebration and photo opportunity at the summit, you will descend back to Saddle Hut for a well-deserved breakfast.
The descent continues to Miriakamba Hut for lunch and then further down to Momella Gate. The trek back covers diverse landscapes, offering a final chance to enjoy the beauty of Arusha National Park. By late afternoon, you will arrive at Momella Gate, where your trek concludes. A transfer vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Arusha, where you can relax and celebrate your accomplishment. Upon return to the hotel, you will have time to freshen up before enjoying a farewell dinner with your trekking team.
